Prayer.

Open wide the windows of our spirits and fill us full of light: open wide the door of our hearts that we may receive and entertain Thee with all the powers of our adoration.*Christina Rossetti.

There isn't a certain time we should set aside to talk about God.
God is part of our every waking moment.*Marva Collins.
When I'm visiting with my youngest daughter Melissa, and her husband Kevin, it's natural for us to talk about God most of the time we are together.
It's not intentional...it's just the normal conversation for us.
It's like that with prayer.
There is prayer before meals, and prayer before bed......and.....
Whenever there is a need, we feel free to sit down and start praying together....whenever, where ever.
Before Kayla's gymnastics meet, she and I sat in the bathroom and prayed together.

Romans 12:10 NKJV says....Be kindly affectionate to one another,...
fervent in spirit, serving the Lord:
rejoicing in hope, patient in tribulation, continuing steadfastly in prayer:
distributing to the needs of the saints,
given to hospitality.

After a while you are in constant communication, or fellowship with God, and you almost forget to pray.  For me, anyway, devotion, and meditation time is different than fellowship time.
While driving downstate to see the kids, I can be talking to God just like I talk to the Mister.
Other times I might be praying about something in particular, or someone.
That is difficult to do while driving, because I can't really concentrate on what I am doing, and pray effectively...other than to shoot up a quick arrow prayer.

Prayer is an ordinary, everyday thing.
People who pray want to share a life with God...to love and be loved.
To speak and to listen.
To work and to be at rest in the presence of God.

If a care is too small to be turned into a prayer then it is too small to be made into a burden.

You will make your prayer to Him,
He will hear you.
Job 22:27 NKJV

When we call on God,
He bends down His ear to listen,
as a father bends down to listen to his little child.*Elizabeth Charles.
Then there are the times when things go wrong, and good things don't happen. When our prayers seem to have been lost. Those are the times when God is most present.*Madeleine L'Engle.
Our God is faithful.
Thy Word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.Psalms 119:105.
In His Love.

  1. Hi Debbie, I love this post. There have been days when I would be working and praying to God all day. I always worried for my children when they were in school. I would ask God to watch over them , to keep them safe in his arms, to put the sweet love of Jesus in their hearts. I have to say, God has been by my side all my life. Even when I was too busy or too self centered to pray or talk with HIm. He never let me down. I am so glad you love God too. Love to you, dear friend, xoxo,Susie

  2. This is good! Although I've had a personal relationship with God most all my life, the past few years, since losing my hubby, prayer has been a challenge! I know God is with me every moment but sometimes it's just hard to 'chat'! Many blessings to you, Cindy

  5. There have been days that I've felt like I've prayed all day long. Some days are filled with a prayer of thanks and praise too. Prayer is definitely a big part of my life. I'm glad you have family to pray with too. I have a sign that says: The family that prays together, stays together.

  6. You know- I am not a real good "formal" pray-er. I just kind of talk to God as I go along and send up little prayers-and thanksgivings- to Him all the time. This is a great way to use this blog, Debbie. Glad you felt inspired to do it- xo Diana

  7. Very well said, Debbie. I talk to God thru out the day. I admit there are many times when life gets too crazy that I neglect my time with Him. But just being able to talk to Him, and know that He knows what is in my heart, well that is where I find comfort.

  9. Hi Debbie, such a beautiful and well written post of prayer and conversation with God. I find myself talking to HIM all day long. Some time it's the same prayer about a subject I need help with, but most of the time, I am giving thanks for things I see and realize are only from God.
    Wishing you a beautiful day!

  10. What a marvelous post Debbie - and I'm so glad to have visited your "other" blog... but I appreciate your sharing of the fact that prayer is more about relationship, then checking the time off a list. It is spending time with Him, all day long, and what a joy it is! So thankful to have been introduced to you and your wonderful thoughts, in both blogs :)

  11. Hello, Now, I love the topic of prayer and I enjoy seeing that we do have different modes of praying. I know are Father in heaven, loves to hear our voices! I find it most delightful when I have a few friends and of course family that we are almost always speaking about the Lord together. I love His presence and his peace we can just move in it all day long!
You my dear are functioning in your sweet spot!!
