Watch and Pray....

It's been a while since I've posted here at Seashells and Lavender.
It's time I pull my head out of the sand, and write down what's been laid on my heart.

I'm not a dooms dayer....but I DO believe in biblical prophecy.
I don't pick and choose parts of the Bible that suit me....I believe the whole book....from beginning to end.
If God does not change, then we've got some splainin' to do real soon.
I live by the sayings of "watch, and pray....no one knows the hour, and know one knows the day."
"He comes as a thief in the night."

The weather patterns have been bizarre, to say the least.
The cloud formations this past summer were amazing! We witnessed wall clouds that were so close to the ground, they were almost super-natural. The lightening storms were scary...and they didn't produce thunder!  When did we ever have such storms in cold weather? Lake Superior just had a huge water spout on Saturday during cold weather!
This past weekend a weatherman joked about the bizarre weather, and said if he sees locust, he knows what's coming next...LOL.

In difficult times, it's easy to become discouraged, and afraid.
What keeps us going?
Why do we push ourselves to get out of bed in the morning?
For me....it's my family.
But what about those overwhelming times when I need someone to lean on?
Who do I have that keeps me going when all seems hopeless?
God.
But He's not a physical being that can hold you, or speak to you...you might say.
His Word is a physical manifestation that I can hold in my two hands. I can read what is written, and receive it into my heart and be comforted and encouraged, and loved.
I am assured of what will be.
No matter what happens here.
There is truth, and power, and light in His Word.
If you want to know what's happening in these days.....read your Bible....it's in there!!!
The weather is just the tip of the iceberg.
then.....watch and pray.....

  1. Debbie, It's more than the weather things too. People seem different also. Letting anger control their lives, their hearts even. I pray for our leaders, our families , and our loved ones. I pray that God can make be the woman he wants me to be. I strife to be a kind caring person. When I am upset with someone, I think ...don't be angry, life is short...make peace . Blessings to you Debbie, you have a caring heart. Love, Susie

  2. You are so right, Debbie. I see things here have changed so much in just the last 20 years....it is scary indeed. Scary for our children and grandchildren and what they could face in their lifetimes.
I, too, believe you can't pick and choose which parts of the bible you believe in. I had a friend that told me she thought that I was crazy to believe there really was a Hell. She said she only believed in the good things in the bible. I told her I wasn't that smart to be able to pick out what I thought was true and what wasn't...so I was just going to take it as all truth. She didn't know what to say--but she still thought I was crazy...lol okay-maybe I am ---a little bit! xo Diana

  3. Greetings, And this is a great encouragement as we have to keep plodding on! Even those who do not believe the Bible are starting to wonder and ask questions. We all better stay close to the Lord and read His word and I have felt a great need to be watchful and repent often!
Loved this as we need to remind each other to keep watch!

  6. These are crazy times we're living in, weather wise and many other ways too. I watch a lot of old movies and wonder if they felt the same back in the 40's, with WWII and all that but I don't know. But you're so right, we keep on keeping on! I'm ashamed to say I don't own a Bible, I had my kids in Christian school for a while until it got too expensive and I think that was the most religion I'd ever learned in my life:( I'm glad they got some education with it tho!

  7. Your watch and pray is a good motto to have. None of us knows for sure what tomorrow will bring, we can only be prepared. Having our faith to hang on to and the Words of Truth to sustain us, we know God is in control. I believe it and trust that we are in His care all the days, even till the end of time as we know it.

  9. Hi Debbie, Your post is a gentle reminder that yes, we must watch and pray. I do believe we are in the ending days. How long that takes, only God knows. So in the meantime, we carry on the best we can knowing that everything is in the control of our Lord. Nothing will happen today that the Lord and I can't handle together. It is a scary world, but keeping our eye on the flint is the only way we can have peace and joy in a difficult world. I don't want to face the future without HIM.
Thank you for sharing your wisdom and thoughts layed on your heart. You are a blessing my friend. Love, cm

  13. There is so much evil abounding around us to be sure. I think technology has played a part in us knowing so much about evil more than say 50 years ago even. Evil has always been present in the heart of man, but technology has pushed that evil to greater dimensions than every before, and truly it is sad to think what kind of world our children and grandchildren will be living in, but thank goodness we have our hope in the Rock of Ages who can keep us through whatever the days ahead hold for us. Beautiful post, and lovely pictures to accompany, dear Debbie! Praying the Lord blesses your day!
