Laughter is a Mini Vacation.

Two weeks ago I had a visit with two of my sisters.
It's been quite a long time since the three of us were together.
We sat around a campfire out by the water's edge....and we laughed.
We weren't laughing "at" anyone...we were just laughing about silliness....you know?
The more we laughed, the funnier everything seemed.
THE BEST LAUGHTER, THE LAUGHTER THAT CAN HEAL, THE LAUGHTER THAT HAS THE TRUEST RING, THE  LAUGHTER THAT FLOWERS OUT OF A LOVE FOR LIFE AND ITS GIVER.
MAXINE HANCOCK

Someone would snort, and that turned into hilarity.
LAUGHING AT OURSELVES AS WELL AS WITH EACH OTHER GIVES A SURPRISING SENSE OF TOGETHERNESS.

Our past was forgotten.
The abuse from our childhood was left where it should be....in the past.
The three of us were able to enjoy each other "in the moment".
WHOLE-HEARTED, READY LAUGHTER HEALS, ENCOURAGES, RELAXES ANYONE WITHIN HEARING DISTANCE. THE LAUGHTER THAT SPRINGS FROM LOVE MAKES WIDE THE SPACE AROUND-GIVES ROOM FOR THE LOVED ONE TO ENTER.

OUR MOUTHS WERE FILLED WITH LAUGHTER, OUR TONGUES WITH SONGS OF JOY. PSALM 126:2 NIV
By the end of the evening we all had charlie horses in our cheeks, and joy in our hearts. It was the best visit in a very long time....like a mini vacation!
Take time to laugh. It is the music of the soul.
Thank you Dee, and Chrissy.....I had a blast!!! Love you guys!

  3. Debbie, I am so happy you had that healing time with your sisters. I hope it leads to many more gatherings. You left the painful past where it needs to be in the past...do not carry it around with you. Letting go and forgiving is so healing for our hearts and souls. Bless you dear friend, Love, Susie

  4. I agree with the laughing part---I'm envious that you have sisters to do that with. My sisters are so far apart in distance and in thoughts...I don't feel we will ever laugh or do anything again. No pity party here...I miss them but also don't want to start over. Love your story but your post brought back memories and yes, our laughter was great!

  7. Debbie I absolutely agree - Laughter resets your body and mind to being able to accept joy. Laughter and conversation when it fills the air is the music of heaven.

  8. My sister came and stayed with us for 4 days a couple of weeks ago and she and I laughed so hard! One night we ended up watching You Tube video's at one in the morning, laughing our heads off at how corny some of our favorite songs sound now:) Laughter IS the best medicine!

  10. Of course, I love the ironstone pitcher of flowers. I love to laugh too. I laugh til I snort and it's laughter because of the snorting. And the laughter continues. The Mr. and I were watching Everybody Loves Raymond and he said, "Have you ever listened to the audience laughter?" I think it was live but some is staged. I did and we laughed not at the show but at the laughter. Isn't that beautiful. The best medicine for sure!

  11. Debbie,
There is nothing better than laughing with your Sisters. I can be down about something and when I hear my sister's voice I am immediately happy. We sometimes laugh ourselves silly to the point of crying. Love your post.
